Tunisia

Hotel pool, waiting for warmer weather

I was back in Tunisia again for the last two weeks, and again for a Produce the Limit type review of an asset.  We were not able to have a field trip for logistical reasons.  This was mitigated somewhat by having the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) participate with us.  He brought a great deal of practical experience with the asset to the team.  The team was very enthusiastic and also the largest team yet--28 team members--which tested my facilitation skills and my voice, which began to fade into a cough after the third day.  By that weekend I should have known I was really sick, but despite this we worked through Saturday and part of Sunday.  Monday was the first and only day I ever had a sick day while travelling.  I guess I've been lucky.  The team carried on that day, then I was back for the rest of the week.  In the end we found an astonishing (to me anyway given that there were already a large number of enhancement projects underway) 30% increase in production and made some recommendations of some important operational changes, for example moving to semi-annual planned shutdowns instead of the 'fully redundant' system with lots of unplanned shutdowns that was not working very well any more.

While in Tunisia, we met briefly with the asset manager from the previous Tunisian trip who said that all the actions from our previous meeting were put in place and met expectations.  Everyone is very pleased with our work, and that success was being used as an example elsewhere in the company.  Always great to get such feedback.

I'm back home now still recovering from this cold/flu, but almost back to normal.
